Lu Wen Liang and Zhang Chi Yi noticed the strange aspects of the corpses and decided to venture into the "Village of Short Lives" to uncover the truth. However, it was widely rumored in the village that the curse of a Gu witch from 20 years ago caused the deaths. The two men were also blamed for breaking a Gu-exorcising ritual, making them the harbingers of disaster.
